Mergent Online (formerly Moody’s) contains financial information and current news on public companies traded in the United States. Also included is a database of privately owned corporations. Images of annual reports, performance information, EDGAR (SEC) filings, industry reports, and timely articles on approximately 13,000 international corporations are provided. Short executive biographies are also available.

To start using the database, click on "Enter Mergent Online." To locate industry information, enter SIC or NAICS code. To locate company information, search by name or ticker symbol. Each company report provides a business summary, financials, history, SEC filings, and more. Formerly Company Data Direct.

Search tips:

• When using the advanced search function, you can check off the company databases to be searched. They are:
  • US Company Universe, active publicly traded US companies;
  • US Company Archive, public US companies that have merged or were acquired or went bankrupt since 1995;
  • International Universe, non-US publicly traded companies;
  • International Archive, public non-US companies that have merged, were acquired, or went bankrupt since 1995; or
  • Private Company database, private company reports from the Experian National Business Private Company database.



• To save searches for another time:
  1. Make sure all the search criteria are in section 3, the search criteria box.
  2. Click on the save search button.
  3. Enter your email addressClick the set email button.
     
     
Entering your email address creates a personal account for you to save search criteria in. You will need to enter the same email address to load your criteria on subsequent logins. Enter a name for your search criteria and click on the save as button to save it.



• When searching for industry reports, use the drop-down menus to search for specific reports.
  
  Use the Select Industry menu to select an industry; use the Select Region menu to select a region; use the Date Range menu to select a start and end date for the reports you wish to view. Then click on the Search button to display the list of reports that match your selected criteria.

Where is it :

Go to the UNLV Libraries' home page. Under Find, select Articles, then under Article databases by name, click on the letter M and select Mergent Online.
