The Leisure Tourism Database contains records selected from the CAB ABSTRACTS database. It brings together an archive of worldwide information for all those interested in the research and strategic development of leisure, recreation, sport, tourism and hospitality activities, facilities, products, and services.
Content includes all relevant papers taken from over 6000 serial publications and thousands of other documents scanned each year by CABI Publishing, including all the core leisure and tourism journals. Comprising over 75,000 international bibliographic references originally published in Leisure, Recreation, and Tourism Abstracts, the backfile features published research from 1974 to the present.
Search tips:
- Because this database is produced in Great Britain, English spellings of words are used in all indexed fields. Therefore, unless searching free text, use English spellings. In free text searches use both the American and English spellings of a word. The quick search mode defaults to a free text search. For a more refined search use the advanced search feature.
- Putting quotation marks around a word or phrase will search it in the index fields only. This is a good way to narrow down a search as it will only be searched in the fields where an indexer has decided it is the subject of the article. A free text search will also look for the term in the abstract where it may not be the main emphasis of the article.
- In a free text search, any words entered next to each other will be searched as a phrase. Searching hotel marketing, will only search for the words in that order, next to each other. It will not search for them separated by even one word. Using the word and between them will look for both words, not necessarily next to each other.
