Notes for Presenters

1) SLIDES AND HANDOUTS

If you would like to make handouts, slides or links for your presentation available online to participants (and the world at large) on the LOTW web site, please send them before June 1 to loex.of.the.west.2008@gmail.com. Materials received before the conference will be posted there no later than a day or two before the conference; the site will remain online for the foreseeable future.

Conference attendees will not have wifi access during conference sessions, so you may choose to present important material on slides or in handouts during your session. On-site printing or photocopying can be arranged in the libraries but will not be available in the student union.

Presenters will use UNLV-provided laptops which will have wireless web access and which will also accept USB thumb drives. Materials sent in advance can be preloaded on these laptops.

PECHA KUCHA PRESENTERS
Since time between presentations will be extremely limited, conference staff will make sure your slides are available in the room you are presenting in. Please email them to loex.of.the.west.2008@gmail.com NO LATER THAN June 1 with "PechaKucha Slides" in the subject line.

Rooms will have theatre-style seating, like this: http://eventscheduling.unlv.edu/su-medium.html; presenters will not be miked.

2) REFERENCE SERVICES REVIEW: Conference Proceedings

Selected papers from the conference will be published in Vol 36 No 4 (Fall 2008) of Reference Services Review . Presenters are invited to submit a paper based on their conference program.

If you choose to submit a paper, please consider the following:

Papers submitted for inclusion in the proceedings are not meant to be transcriptions of sessions, but rather should be structured for publication i.e. placed within the context of the literature on the topic, and divided into appropriate sections with sufficient detail that readers who did not attend the conference can benefit from the information. Overheads, handouts, etc. should be referred to in the text and placed in an appendix. Papers must reflect the conference themes of creative risk-taking and innovation in instruction.

Papers must be submitted in electronic format to Margy MacMillan, chair of the paper selection committee, before the close of the conference on June 6, 2008. Send papers to loex.of.the.west.2008@gmail.com with RSR in the subject line. For questions about submissions for RSR, please contact Margy directly at: mmacmillan@mtroyal.ca or (403) 440- 6135. Selections will be made by members of the paper selection committee and the editors of RSR, based on article quality and originality.
