Project description/narrative: Borders Residence The side gate that contains the symbols for earth and water, leads to a back yard that serves as a destination for reflection and peace. The side throughway contains a raised planter that houses many colorful and specimen plants. The throughway is also covered with an overhead arbor which frames an Asian statue. The back yard is a symbol of the Japanese garden aura. With multi-elevated walkways, an intricate water feature with streambed, and a sculptural meditation garden, this area is a destination for social interaction as well as tranquility. The landscape treatment includes sculptural Japanese pine trees, willow trees, bamboo, and junipers that help retain the impression that is the Japanese garden. |
