Project description/narrative:

Borders Residence
The Borders Residence is an Asian oasis set within the peaceful Eden Ridge community in Summerlin. This Japanese influenced design incorporates many values that recite the essence of a tranquil and spiritual garden. The front yard contains a dry river bed that collects natural runoff from the rear yard and also includes landscape that is rich with evergreen and flowering plants to create a dynamic and expressive setting.

The side gate that contains the symbols for earth and water, leads to a back yard that serves as a destination for reflection and peace. The side throughway contains a raised planter that houses many colorful and specimen plants. The throughway is also covered with an overhead arbor which frames an Asian statue.

The back yard is a symbol of the Japanese garden aura. With multi-elevated walkways, an intricate water feature with streambed, and a sculptural meditation garden, this area is a destination for social interaction as well as tranquility. The landscape treatment includes sculptural Japanese pine trees, willow trees, bamboo, and junipers that help retain the impression that is the Japanese garden.
