Expanded 1959. Architect: Zick & Sharp. Expanded to the site of the Birdcage Casino at the corner of First Street. To redesign the sign they reinterpreted the original arc to make an arching eyebrow that turned the corner and created an urban landmark. (from Viva Las Vegas, p. 68)

"The Mint opened a 26 story tower with 300 rooms, designed by Martin Stern, Jr.; as many of Stern's hotels, the upper floors were wider than the lower ones to allow for spacious suites" from Viva Las Vegas by Alan Hess.
