| Description: | Twin structure tied together with an outdoor shaded plaza. The initial concept centered on creating a working environment rich with natural lighting. Our research into the office and customer service areas indicated that natural lighting was the key to employee satisfaction in their productivity, morale, absenteeism, and turnover as well as playing a vital role in satisfying customers while waiting for service. The research shows it wasn't just providing a small "peeking" window but vast amounts of glazing to allow for visual distractions & lighting. We explored various means of getting light into the facility: filtered light into the courtyard, open glazed walls, borrowed light, protected viewing windows, and a skylight directly over the working surface of the registration counters. |
