B06030 Design approach/Narrative: The design for a new union hall and administration building, identified in a master-planning study, to accommodate growth projections, began in February 2005. The new building, replacing an ionic structure from the 60’s, was placed at the corner of the site, setback from both streets to fit the context of the residential neighborhood from which students are drawn. The building system of tilt-up concrete, supporting minimal maintenance and maximum durability, is equally important to this client so their focus can be on maintaining membership and providing resources for the increasing needs of the construction industry in the Southwest.
