Design Approach/Narrative: The Fire Department holds fast to many traditions, like the hundred year old ceremony of the ringing of the bell to honor a fallen fire fighter, yet they utilize state of the art equipment in their day to day training evaluations. It was this juxtaposition of the old and the new and the design “keep 5 alive” that came to be the main thrust for the design of the new fire station 5.
